this is basically the box art minus a few things like the name and and an overlay with scan lines.
I kinda broke my own rule about the warm/cool colors with the main character, maybe hinting at some sort of robotic influence in her! Nah. she has the only white suit in the squad and her helmet has one peice that goes side to side on the top rather than a segmented mohawk. these were basically done to differentiate her from the others in-game so you could easily spot where you were. the triangle on her head was also meant to show the direction you were facing since this was a top view game.
the graphic look to the character is also a part of the game. I unintentionaly made the sprites more catoony than the scenery, but I liked the contrast and how it made it really easy to spot your people. So i brought that over to this piece.
whew I wrote alot! hope this helps waste time if your bored and looking at this an class or something and lets see alittle bit of my thoughts in these pieces.
B: WOW! That's what this makes me think of in my head.
Your unintentional change of style is perfect! I really like the background, and with the characters bubbling out like that, they obviously stand out and add a great effect!
Wow, this is really top notch. Loving the bg and focal point, only thing I could crit is that I'm having trouble connecting the woman's upper half to her lower portion.
hmmm yes I see it probably has something to do with her hips facing perfectly toward the screen. or maybe the design. I'll definetly pay attention to that when I fix this later on.
A continuation of my unexpectedly-popular guide on Mary Sue prevention. Feedback and support is completely welcomed! Thank you all for your support so far.
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
